Intel (INTC) 26.04: -- Update -- More from SG Cowen's Drew Peck: Despite overwhelming evidence, Intel continues to deny that AMD has been making steady and significant market share gains in recent quarters. Management acknowledged that it was making fundamental and dramatic changes in its pricing strategy. New Pentium 4 processors at the highest clock rates will be sold at prices far below the traditional $800 to $1000 commanded by top-of-the-line processors in the past -- 1.7GHz P4 may be introduced at $350. Real consumption of components, including microprocessors, will remain weak until the global economy shows some sign of recovery.

08:43 ET Intel (INTC) 26.04: -- Update -- SG Cowen's Drew Peck expressing skepticism regaring the "giddy reaction" to INTC's release. Says the euphoria masks the most important acknowledgment by the company: processor ASPs are declining; trend will continue (and accelerate) in the current quarter as prices for the highest-end processors tumble. Even when the economy begins to recover, the financial landscape for Intel will remain permanently altered. Maintains NEUTRAL rating, would sell into a short term rally.
