Hold to 8 million, means to me that AOL will do everything within its power to have 8 million members even if it means doubling the number of disks it mails out. That's why we are all still receiving our drink coasters in the mail. The AOL hype machine has been fueled my membership growth in the absence of profits and a sound business model, not to mention ethics. They know that if membership numbers start to fall, the stock will be in deep doo-doo. So, mail out another 10 million disks, get 1 million to sign up on a free trial, and call them members even though they haven't paid a dime and will jet(ti)son the service as soon as the month is over. It is the American (Online) Way.
