ERICSSON SIGNS MUSD 210 AGREEMENT WITH ROGERS CANTEL IN CANADA
Ericsson and Rogers Cantel Inc. have announced a new three-year master purchase agreement with an estimated value of USD 210 million (SEK 1,600 million) over a three year period.
Within the agreement Ericsson will continue to be the principle vendor of D-AMPS IS-136 wireless network infrastructure and services to Rogers Cantel in Canada. Under the terms of the agreement it could also be extended annually for up to two additional years.

"As we move forward with our Digital PCS network, we will provide an increasing number of services and products to our customers, and Ericsson software and hardware will be integral to our success."

There are approximately 80 million subscribers using D-AMPS/AMPS networks worldwide. D-AMPS was the first technology to be commercially available as a dual-band (800/1900 MHz) and dual-mode (analog/digital) technology. Over 11 million subscribers are already using D-AMPS digital services.
Rogers Cantel Mobile Communications Inc., an 81 percent owned subsidiary of Rogers Communications Inc., owns and operates Canada's largest wireless company. Cantel offers a full range of wireless communication services including voice, data and paging under the co-brand Cantel(R) AT&T (TM).
Ericsson Communications Inc. is Ericsson's operating company in Canada. It has an R&D center in Montreal with the worldwide responsibility for software development for the wireless standard D-AMPS/AMPS.
