[I call you Moony.] The Grid Goes 100% V.90

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Although it may seem that technology occasionally moves more quickly than consumers can keep up, many computer users are way ahead of the V.90 trend.

V.90 is the new modem standard that replaces two competing 56k modem protocols. The International Telecommunications Union gave preliminary approval to the new standard in February, with a final decision expected in September.

Although the standard won't be in effect for a few months, many 56k users have already purchased V.90 modems, or upgraded their 56k modems to V.90 capability.

The Grid, a high-performance Internet service provider with local access for more than 1100 communities throughout California and Nevada, has already converted their modem pool to 100% V.90 capability.

Jim Higgins, President of The Grid, says, "V.90 is the wave of the future. We're devoting all of our resources to making sure our customers get the fastest connections available. Wherever you're connecting from, whether it's in California, or from the Reno or Las Vegas areas, you're going to get a V.90 connection with The Grid."

If you've got a 56k modem, now is the time to upgrade to V.90. More details about the V.90 standard, including links to the home pages of major modem manufacturers, can be found at v90.com.
