FWIW, imo WiFi phones will soon be a killer app, since they can assimilate, basically, all apps (voice/data/video) in basically all non-rural locations. W'less switches like Vivato and mesh boxes like MeshAP can blanket a city w/o licenses, and obsolete a few hundred bil in spectrum license fees.

What's still needed is a handheld multimedia device, which hasn't been offered yet, but the chips are there so it won't be long. You'll then be able to self-install your tv, phone and broadband net w. a box you get in the mail.

The 802.16 protocol provides multidimensional w'less access (pt-pt, peer-pear, mesh, pt-multi-pt) among low and high-bandwidth users. MeshAP is self-installing freeware neighborhood node for $400. Etc.
