Hi LC, I understood fully what Friedman meant. It's just that by saying "we" he put himself, and his readers (e.g. me) in that same ignorant group - in order to be more persuasive, of course. Knowing Friedman's stuff, it doesn't surprise me that he'd adopt that sort of ingratiating tone. It still rubs me up the wrong way, though.
