Amy, re: I never understood why they didn't focus on creating a larger surplus budget during the boom-times. You don't remember Greenspan talking about the danger of too large a budget surplus? That you didn't want the government deciding where to invent excess dollars, that that would be manipulation of excess dollars? re: Someone is seriously and really economically asleep at the wheel. There is NO DOUBT about that. Clinton the Democrat is the fiscal conservative, balancing the budget with hard decisions. Bush the Republican is cutting taxes, spending like a drunken sailor. He did the same in Texas, his brother is doing the same in Florida. Which party is which? John
