If Syria really is changing its perspective, then Bush has pulled off an major win.

There is nothing surprising about this. Apparently, Eagleburger hasn't figured it out. But when Syria sees you remove Saddam from power, then hears you say, "Okay, now Syria, it is time to straighten up your act", they are going to at least give the appearance of cleaning it up.

Realistically, it may just be an appearance.

But this is why it was correct for Bush to do all the sabre-rattling a week or so ago.
