Like I said it was his way or the highway
This is called "Leadership". Great leaders, ALL of them, ultimately, come down to "my way or the highway". The question is what advice he receives prior to the ultimatum, and whether he acts on it.
It is very difficult for someone to understand, if that person cannot comprehend that there is an adversity of interests between the United States and other nations.
Bush has the best team of advisors of any president in at least 50 years. What kind of leader would get that kind of advice then disregard it? It would be incompetent to have done so. I would add, that kind of incompetence is precisely what we dealt with from '92 through '00; as a result, you had the Chinese receiving military secrets from the Clinton administration, you had the wholesale pardon of horrible criminals, and of course, you had an impeachment.
These are things I just don't think many liberals can understand. Liberals always seem to just want to bend over backwards to make everybody happy. Sometimes, to do so is cutting your own throat.
Sometimes, you have to politely tell the foreign nations who would usurp our sovereignty, "thanks, but why don't you just go to hell".
Every day that goes by it becomes more and more clear that Bush will be remembered in history as one of our greatest presidents. |
