Arnold to send troops to border GOP Vixen By Bridget I love the timing on this -- just after Vicente Fox left the state after going on his whirlwind P.R. tour.From AP: "California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger agreed Thursday to send the California National Guard to the Mexican border, ending a 17-day standoff with the Bush administration, a Schwarzenegger spokesman said. The two sides had been at odds over whether California Guardsmen would join the effort to bolster the Border Patrol and who would pay for it. They reached an agreement under which California will contribute about 1,000 Guardsmen and the federal government will pick up the full cost, said Schwarzenegger spokesman Adam Mendelsohn." Expect the Democrat-controlled Legislature to still try stonewalling the deployment so they can cowtow to pro-illegal-immigration activists. But just once I'd like the lefties to see the whole picture: It's NOT just wholesome migrants seeking work streaming across the border. It's LOTS and LOTS of drug smugglers packing weapons who would just as soon kill someone who gets in the way of transporting their high-dollar stash.
