... tell me please about your microsoft investment. Maybe I can use it in my book!
I opened my IRA in October 22, 1992 with a lump sum payment of $16,273.55 from my ex-employer's Profit Sharing Plan. I invested it in the following on 10/29/1992:
200 shares of ADAC Laboratories @ 3.75 = 797.00 100 shares of DELL @ 33.875 = 3,444.50 100 shares of Microsoft @ 90.25 = 9,107.00 100 shares of Picturetel @ 19.50 = 2,002.00 Money Market Fund got the balance = 926.33
You already know what the 100 shares of DELL did for me. *grin* So, let's take a look at the other investors and say "pretend" that I still owed them:
ADAC and Picturetel (PCTL) would be worth less today than I paid for it --- if I'm reading the chart right.
And MSFT.....well, let's see. We have the following splits: May 23, 1994 2:1 Dec 9, 1996 2:1 Feb 23, 1998 2:1 Mar 29, 1999 2:1
so, what would that be worth?
Of course, the rest of the story is that MSFT did not have good first quarter sales of Windows 3.0, the stock slid to the high $70s and I sold it back in 1993.
