The corollary to this is that a second PC is also a luxury. Where my family once had 3 laptops in additional to a media server desktop, we are now down to one barely-used computer and 3 iPads.

Come to think of it, this is true of TVs as well— we used to have 2 of them, now just one without any compunction to replace the one that broke. Now if only the iPad could help us get by with just one car...
