I'm coming here more and more.

BTW, on reflection, I think Obama's message about the domestic surveillance has more to do with absolving themselves from liability for damaging people's lives (plus continuing what Bush started). People break the rules, take a laptop home, and voila, everything you ever wrote is for sale.

In order to force accountability, because of those rules (or whatever they are called), one would have to have deep pockets and take the personal case to the Supreme Court, and even there probably lose.

Soon, here's what the monitoring checklist will look like (some gov't some corporate but I think likely all corporate will go to gov't anyway):

Everywhere you drive (GPS on auto);
Every POTS phone call;
Every Skype phone call;
All e-mails;
All debits;
All credit card;

Most of this is *now* but the GPS will be within five years. The cover for that is to make people pay for each mile they drive, when a simple (and far less costly) solution is to increase the gas tax to account for higher mileage vehicles. By making the tax gallon dependent, higher mileage cars are encouraged, which in tern can save trillions on wars.
