Regarding the single disk 1 GB project replacing the 2 GB project: Sounds fishy to me. A single disk 1 GB Jaz cartridge would be slower than the two disk model, since there would be two fewer heads to read/write data. Moreover, I wonder how single disk cartridges could be made compatible with existing Jaz drives, which have been designed to work with a two platter cartridge.

It seems as if this would create more problems than it would solve. Would you mind commenting on this from an engineering standpoint?
