The morality of war is a difficult matter in the both jurisrudence and philosophy of good and evil. We bomb cities knowing a lot of civilians will die. We call it collateral damage. We take out a taliban house with hellfire missles filled with bad guys and their wives and childeren in the Hindu Kush knowing we will be killing all. So the Marines as near as I can speculate, get into a firefight with bad guys who have blown up there buddy. The kids and wives are there to. In fact they know what is going on and help as lookouts and providing food/meals/shelter. So the Marines go in and kill the bad guys and all their family in the houses. What is the morality? This is a hypothetical.

If this was conventional war killing lookouts, and supply/support people is OK. But in this war it gets complicated.

In the bombs on the cities , this is OK. Collateral damage. Conscious disgregard of a known risk. In the hellfire missle , a little higher standard. A specific house and we know we are killing all inhabitants including woman and children. Willful intent but not specific intent. In the Marines case it depends on the fact. They attack the house and fire away killing all inside. Similar to the hellfire missle. Or did they line them up and shoot them. This is specific and the highest moral problem. The evidence will come out but my guess is that they attacked the house and killed all inside in a firefight with the bad guys and their supporters , woman and children.
Not much different then the CIA hellfire missle in Pakistan.
I would like to defend the Marines.
