it was my wishful thinking, I would be really surprised if US would do that. We seemed to be trying to avoid angering Arabs at any cost and even thought of Israel attacking Iraq would be unacceptable to Arabs.
I suspect that US would ask Israel not respond to any attacks from Iraq.
IMHO, it is a big mistake because Israel would be most effective allie in the region. The goal of not angering Arabs is a lost cause anyway so we should confront the problem rather than pretending that it does not exist
