Actually, the U.S. did try to get U.N. Security Council to go along with an invasion of Iraq. The result of that effort was U.N. resolution 1441. en.wikipedia.org You not wanting anyone siting that resolution is ridiculous. Surely you remember the US did not attempt to get a U.N.
