I don't have a problem with that, in principle.

Unfortunately we either spent too much or tax too little elsewhere - with the SS bill not even due yet! - so IMO any talk of tax reductions *must* be accompanied with an alternate source of revenue or an equivalent cut in spending.

It's a tough one. At some point we will have to do something about SS and Medicare and that will be one ugly, ugly fight. People will be marching in the streets over those issues.

At some point we either have to give up the myth that this isn't a socialized society and start taxing accordingly, or we need to drastically reduce SS/Medicare.
