Hollywood Keeping Morale High with 3 New Iraq War Films!
LIBERTAS BLOG

As if Hollywood is eager to counter yesterday's good news from Iraq, I suddenly read about 3 new Iraq films today: one about a soldier who refuses to serve, another about looting in Iraq's national museum, another about "what happens when the coffins come home" (words of John Cusack, the film's star).

Nothing like a few good Hollywood films to keep morale high!

Here are the three new films:

Stop Loss which Hollywood Reporter says "centers on a soldier (Phillippe) who returns home to Texas and is called to duty again in Iraq through the military's 'stop-loss procedure. The soldier then refuses to return to battle." Ryan Phillip is in negotiations to star.

Grace is Gone starring John Cusack. According to the AP, "Cusack plays a man whose wife Grace is killed in service in Iraq … Cusack's character, Stanley, delays telling his two daughters about their mother's death, instead taking them on a road trip while the former military man sorts out his complicated feelings about the war. While Cusack's motivation for taking the part are political, he insists the movie is not." Sure!

And finally:

Thieves of Bagdad, which deals with looting at Iraq's national museum.

Thanks so much for the morale lift, Hollywood - and let's keep those home fires burning!
