The "M" Word The 17 Muslim terrorists determined to blow up as many Canadians as possible are covered by an anti-war American press that refuses to call them “Muslim” terrorists. It has been painful to watch the linguistic contortions with which the mainstream media have carefully avoided using the “M” word – “Muslim” to attach to the suspects. And nowhere has this cynical disregard for the truth been more apparent then in the front page article in the New York Times (6/4) which painstakingly, almost hilariously avoided the “M” word in numerous descriptions. The Times referred to them all these ways, but never as “Muslims” “Ontario residents” “Canadian residents” “the group” “mainly of South Asian descent” “the men” “the Canadian subjects” “The suspects” “good people” “adherents of a violent ideology inspired by Al Qaeda” “These individuals” “None of them had any known affiliation with Al Qaeda.”“ “Some are students, some are employed, some are unemployed.” Everything but what they really and most relevantly are: Muslims. The painful reality most of the Press refuses to admit is that the President has been right all along— we are in a global war against Muslim extremists who want to kill anyone who isn’t Muslim.
