Hi Iso,

My neighbor raises calves and steers for beef.

Plenty of manure in Wisconsin ,but it is loaded with seeds.

I always collect leaves and top off garden boxes with as much leaf compost mulch as I can.

Then each year go to local sand pit and add concrete sand on top of leafs.

Then till it down as deep as I can.

Wisconsin has nice top soil but mine has a bit of clay in it - the sand lightend it up and the leaves make it softer and add nutrients.

This will be my third year of putting in a garden in Wisconsin.

I'll put in one more raised box garden to finish off the landscaping with 6 boxes in total.

I have an automatic watering system and gravel walk ways try to make it look as nice as possible.
