it will likely take a very significant calamity to return our focus to rudimentary concepts can't argue with that, it sure seems to be part of the historical cycle. you struggle until you're fat and happy, then you get lazy, stupid or both, and someone leaner and meaner comes along to take it away from you... ...and you're back to struggling. didn't pangloss end up a potato(e) farmer?
