thats what you think <g>

notes on silver from gold eagle...

CAM seems to be off trying to re-attach the ark of the covenant to his PT Boat, so I'll do the honors. Check out silverinstitute.org
1998 #s in millions of oz:
Supply
Mine production...........545.5
Net official sector sales..52.5
Old silver scrap..........190.4
Hedging.....................5.1
Implied disinvestment......47.2
Total Supply..............840.6
Demand
Industrial fabrication....323.7
Photography...............245.3
Jewelry/Silverware........244.4
Official Coins.............27.2
Total (Fabrication)Demand.840.6

A couple of points -
Note that total fabrication exceeds mine production by 300 million oz! To balance the #s there is an implied DISINVESTMENT figure, official sector sales and old scrap. Scrap is a significant # & I believe it mostly represents photo recovery.
If people ever stop disinvesting in silver and start investing, these #s just won't work at all.
