you're very sweet, and I don't know anything more than you do. I'm an urban dweller, and can only tell you what I've seen over the decades.
LA went predominantly Mexican in the late 70's. At least that's when the public school districts went Latino. That's a long time ago.
Mexicans are lovely people, but the country is ruled by a white European oligarchy. Corruption is endemic. The people are mercilessly exploited. It's a mestizo, Indian culture. That's as opposed to black/white culture, like Brazil. The first immigrants planned to return. They bought their retirement homes in mexico. They're very nationalistic. witness the flags when they protest or celebrate cinco de mayo. Also, vast swaths of the northern states like Guanajuato are denuded of people, except for the very young or very old. Village after village with no one in them.
now with tightening borders, they're staying here. Given their birthrate, they'll become a majority between 2040 and 2050, or so I've read. I've also read their birthrate will fall as they become wealthier and better educated.
once again, the opinion depends on what side of the argument you take. From personal observation, they are a nation of long suffering, terribly exploited people. That's why their revolutions are so explosive and bloody. They do not like black people, either here or in Mexico.
if open borders continue we'll end up with a balkanized culture. Also one with a vast underclass of Hispanics, ruled by a white oligarchy. In other words, America will end up just like Mexico.
As to Miami, it's totally different. It's Latin, not Mexican. As the Latins have moved in, led by the Cubans, they've taken over commerce and slowly but surely excluded Americans. they're squeezing out the last of them right now, people like yourself, who thought how much richer they made the culture. You can't work in Miami, or huge parts of Florida, or California for that matter, unless you're a Spanish speaker.
It's racism in reverse in Miami, if you want to put it in PC. they want their kids, especially the girls, to marry within their subgroup, and they prefer to do business with their own kind.
Of course, they're not uniform in their attitudes either, and there is much pride among the different nationalities as to which is superior. A lot of them look down on the Mexicans. They're also very class conscious, and that's based on money and education.
they also look down on Americans, BTW. Gringo is pejorative term.
Take your choice. if you don't like your culture enough to fight for it, then it deserves to get obliterated, and that's what's happening. Personally, I'm not going quietly. |
