I differ with you. In fact, I will not say: I beg to differ but only that I differ with you.

As you wrote: "It is fully consistent with well-known and accepted principles of Classic TA"; implicit in that statement is that there should be many examples in the published texts, etc. that will verify your statement that that curve, drawn as such, and so depicted is well documented to not be a trend line and that for most of its existence what would be expected to be a trend line by common knowledge is not and then the plot departed from the "trend line" to make a high and then went through it on the way down. Therefore, it should be very easy for you to give a few easily verifiable references that confirm your statement that that chart/graph even a part of it does not represent a trend line because your response was that none of that chart/graph represented a trend line.

When I was in graduate school, we would have outside speakers come in and discuss their research programs, etc. It was understood by the students that if any speaker in answering the student's questions intimated that the answer should be intuitively obvious, then it was promptly registered by the students that he didn't know what he was taking about. Fortunately, it never happened.
