The alternative a non-moderated thread has its own abuses. A board as well read and posted as CFZ, IMHO, would degenerate into a shouting match between idiots posting irrelevant topics. Look at many (or most) of the Yahoo message boards to see the value of moderating a board here. I suppose it also helps that SI doesn't allow aliases and charges a membership fee to join.

Messages posted as responses to other messages are more likely to go under the radar of Luc since they don't go into his personal inbox.
