ERICY-KPN-DoCoMo: Introducing I-mode in Europe. ERICY is the primary supplier for KPN Mobile UMTS networks in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. DoCoMo has a 15% stake in KPN. KPN is going to launch i-mode in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium CONCLUSION: ERICY is helping DoCoMo introduce i-mode in Europe. ERICY and DoCoMo introduced WAP NG which is now the approved as the new common standard WAP 2.0. The difference in between i-mode and WAP 2.0 is bound to disappear. DoCoMo i-mode and FOMA will shift to WAP 2.0. Developers would be able to create applications for, both, FOMA and MMS. MMS is based on WAP 2.0.
