8th Army, U.S. Forces Korea to move out of Seoul
The first formal round of talks between American and South Korean diplomats has concluded with the U.S. agreeing to move its main military base out of downtown Seoul.
Closing Yongsan Garrison, a sprawling post in the capital city that’s home to the Eighth Army, U.S. Forces Korea and the United Nations Command, been talked about for years. But in recent times, Yongsan has become a source of friction. Some South Koreans complain that U.S. forces occupy valuable real estate and sometimes cause trouble in nearby neighborhoods :Reuters
