This looks like it may be a good CPU. Once I saw the details there, my first impression was that this is a P6 core with some modifications, such as P4 bus, probably added SSE-2. My opinion that it is based on the P6 core is based on the small size of the core (once you subtract the size of the cache), and high IPC - which was always good on P6, and is helped by huge L2 and high bandwidth of the P4 FSB.

It looks like Intel will finally be moving from the stone age of SpeedStep to something similar to AMD's PowerNow, which is definitely a way to go. I can't wait until this technology makes its way to desktops as well.
