NC vs PC:

Is not a real competition. There are several PC's that are used in a very limited capacity, with a little bit of PC software, per user,
in use at any one time. For uniformity purposes one installs all packages on all computers and for sanity prohibits the office user from installing anything else. At this stage it already is an "NC" in all but its physical form. Reliability of the box itself costs
up-front money, also - so you can't compare a quality NC with the cheapest available PC: it ends up not being very cheap.

So it boils down to quality of the product and the associated software. Certainly a sun server is adequate to provide multiple
users with sufficently responsive environment.
