From what I can see AVIC has some hurdles to get over before the cash starts to flow....The first one is the relationship with China Unicom and the MPT...From what I understand is that this is somewhat of an adversely one and that all communication projects have got to be blessed by the MPT...This means that the MPT still controls communications in China....On the other hand with such high demand the people will get their communications needs fullfilled...That's the good news..Another issue is what do they really have to generate capitol...One is National Paging a joint venture with Beijing CATCH this is still in the development stage and their still negotiating the acquisition of the roaming frequency and 43 operational stations from a Ministry level entity...By the way this qouted from their I/R package...(My question here is what is an entity any way???? What level is this ENTITY within the Ministry????)
Ok nothing there $$$$ wise for lets say another year or so....
Here's another one Hebei GSM Network this is another joint venture and I quote "AVIC has reached agreement to aquire 61% stake in the Hebei United Telecommunications Equipment Co., which is currently engaged in a joint venture with NTT International Corp. The joint venture company is developing a province-wide GSM project in Hebei Province.. Construction of the network has begun and commercial operation is expected to commence in January 1997...Phase one is projecting 70,000 subscribers...Not bad for starters but still no green backs in the bank..
That's not all two more projects the Hebei wireline and fiber-optic Network and Beijing Mobile Trunk Radio..One of these is an excuted letter of intent and the other is a signed letter of intent...So those are a long way from home....There is no dept in my mind that the risk is there..But so is the capitol..In reality we are probably looking at another year before we see anything substantial happen here...I do know this that the market is there and I like AVIC's approach to the market thats why I like this issue....Partnering with already established Telecos gives them a hugh advantage in penetrating the marketplace....and the government....This one is going to fly.....
