It's interesting to note the explosion of posts on the thread since Intel got caught cheating on benchmarks.

The Intel longs must be terrified - It's doubtful that Intel will be directly destroyed by penalties from the class action lawsuit, but the ensuing publicity could lop $75 off their APS, which would cost them $9 Billion in annual revenue (with no reduction in costs).

Intel and AMD sell what are, functionally, almost identical products. Intel has been getting $150 for each part, due to inertia and performance claims, while AMD has been getting $65. Intel's ASPs may drop to more like $75 - a quite possible outcome of publicity about Intel's faking performance claims for P4, at the same time Athlon-64 offers an alternative with real performance.

Hence the volume of posts from the numerous Intel fanboys and employees on this thread.
