Fred,

About the only thing that is definite is that the long-term demand for chips of all kinds will increase. This is driven by the proliferation of PCs to more and more households (and sometimes, individuals within households) which is partly fueled by the sub-$1,000 category, but also be proliferation of cellular, DVD, other wireless stuff, internet, and many other things that we haven't figured out yet.

So I would sleep well at night holding AMAT for the long term, but the current panic could lead to some potential for short-term profits from selling and buying lower OR a lower entry point for anybody who hasn't bought yet.

I'm holding what I've got and looking for an opportunity to buy more.
