Shalom, able to post tonight. The post on faith in Heb 11:1,3 was simply my attempt to say that I believe Faith proves God's existence. another idea I was trying to express about unregenerate people not understanding God relates to this verse,
"1 Cor 2:14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised."
Shalom, no one is more aware of the fact that he was unregenerated than I am. I mean, I rank right up there. I was born a sinner and lived a sinner by choice. Additionally, I sinned mightily after I was regenerated. Claim 1 John 1:9 a lot.
My idea, which I obviously presented very weakly, is that most lost people want to justify themselves by using the idea that God cannot be proved to exist by human reason/logic, and even if He does exist and they go into judgment, they are willing to "take my chances." They also like to say things like, " I'm not such a bad person."
Here is where I came up with the idea of them having the cart before the horse. First they want to prove God exists, then exercise faith in Him. This is backwards. God requires they exercise faith first, then He proves Himself to them.
I also believe that faith comes form God. "Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;..." To me both the faith and the grace are gifts from God.
Also, " Rom 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ."
To me faith is the thing that proves God exists. Other things point to him, faith proves Him. Faith makes Him real.
Peace and God's blessings,
