Its Arab neighbors are vicious, primitive dictatorships. They rule by diktat and terror. These nations, by the way, supported Hitler in World War II. A large proportion of their populations hate Jews because they are Jews. They want to kill Jews. Let me be clear on this: the typical citizen of the countries encircling Israel would like all the Jews everywhere on earth to be murdered.
And, though Jews are a special target, their hatred is not limited to any one group. These are the creatures who danced in the streets in jubilation when the World Trade Center fell.
Israel's enemies are her enemies for only one reason: they burn with racist, murderous hatred against Jews, the West, and material progress. Given that, there's no point in discussing anything else. And if that is evaded, discussing anything else is worse than pointless—it sanctions evil..
The whole “progressive” (regressive) movement is increasingly revealing the same murderous hatred—witness the “inequality” campaign, which is nothing but hatred of the successful.
Exactly 50 years ago, the New Left burst onto the scene, with the Berkeley student riots. That marked the bursting out of the feral animal that had hidden inside the oh-so-sophisticated shell of the “liberal.” It was just a little over a decade from Joseph Welch's faux outrage at Joseph McCarthy (“Have you no sense of decency, sir?”) to the Establishment's starry-eyed fascination with “Off the pigs!” (kill the police) and “Up Against the wall, Motherf——er!” (against the wall to be executed).
It was in this period that one Objectivist professor, while arguing with a few leftist students after a lecture, was told by one of them, “You don't understand: we don't want to convince you, we want to kill you.”
It was also in this period that the Left shifted its allegiance from Israel to its enemies. Having grown up in a period when the left was anti-anti-Semitic, and very pro-Israel, I am shocked to see the reversal—the rise of Leftist anti-Semitism and the Left's vilification of Israel.
All this was called to mind as I watched a brief news report on the current Israeli shelling of Gaza. While the screen showed Gaza housing being hit by an Israeli missile, the on-location reporter said, that it was the worst shelling so far.
Worst? It was the best shelling so far. The most effective.
Can anyone imagine that during World War II an American reporter describing Britain's bombing raids on Germany as the “worst so far”? Or that they would focus on the number of German children killed?
I know you're thinking that I must have been watching MSNBC. Or at least CNN. No, this anti-Israel slanting was on CNBC, the right-wing financial channel, on the popular“Squawk Box” show.
This is worse than the disgusting doctrine of moral equivalency. This was actually taking Hamas' side. The reporter, or the writer of the copy, should be fired.
