I projected 56,000 at the launch, not 150,000.

While I agree that Mac OS Rumors and the like are not usable sources for hard numbers, the two sources I reference come from what I'd consider at least potentially legitimate. The 56,000 weekly (8,000 daily) came from a Macintouch report that came out right around the launch. Further, a MacWeek article from less than a week ago states, "Apple is hoping to ship 400,000 iMacs during the next six weeks."

All such estimates must be taken with a grain of salt. When we see independent corroboration, however, that's a good sign. The 8,000 daily figure seems to be completely different than the 400,000 projection, except that one happens to add up to the other.

Also note yesterday's MacWeek article that notes Apple has been doing a very good job of keeping up with the high demand, something that should bias us toward the higher-end quarterly projections.
