OK ... maybe I'm missing something here, but why (exactly) is the originator of a thread responsible for every detail of the company and how it trades? I have occasionally come across a stock that DOESN'T have a thread started, and thought about starting it with info from a PR (if that is what spiked my interest in it). Does that make me liable for anything that happens with that company from that moment on??
If you hear something about a company, rumor or fact, you have the right to throw it out there so others can debate, validate, or assist in the DD. Yes, there are hypsters and scammers, and if you spend long enough on SI you learn to know who they are and what they're up to. When in doubt, pick up the phone and call IR. If you can't get through to them and get your questions answered, don't buy the stock. Thanks to the internet, we now all have the ability to invest in companies we would have never heard of a few years ago. But impulsive investing in companies you know little about carries a lot of risk - and most of us here are doing it because of the potential reward.
I'm not one of Wayne's "minions" (gosh, hate to admit it but I don't even know what that means ... doesn't sound very nice though) - but I do have his thread bookmarked, and contrary to what is being said here I have NOT found him to be some evil, self-serving hypster. Like he said, a lot of people have him bookmarked, and that's not something he does FOR you. You do it yourself. People have him bookmarked for a reason, and that is because he has a knack for finding stocks that are either beaten down or showing signs of recovery. And to assert that he has the ability to send stocks to the moon merely because he talks about them is simply not true. (Wish it was, I would just buy what he buys then and save myself a lot of time!)
