[valuation & appreciation timing]
<<My problem w/AMTX has always been: when is the market going to value the company based on future earnings>>

I would say even now the stock is being valued based on future earnings. The farther we want to go into the future, the more uncertain things are, and people get worried about the prospect of losing money.

The market already showed its willingness to value it much higher (thanks to a great extent to the Silicon Investor) when it took the price up close to $40. But the earnings remained too far into the future for it to stay there.

A lot of people rely on Technical analysis for what you refer to as appreciation timing. The chart does not always tell the story and certainly not all the stories, but in general it is a more reliable guide than our hopes and impressions. Suggest reading Stan Weistein's book (i forget the exat title, but something like: How to profit in Bull & Bear Markets). FWIW
