Tony: This is an example of classic bad reporting becoming "truth." The statement about "seasonal slowdowns" appeared from the Iomega S3 filing from last fall. It is "boilerplate," from earlier S3s and has been in subsequent filings as a matter of course. IT IS NOT NEW. This morning the boilerplate was seized upon by some reporter named David F.... (sp? I don't watch television :)) on CNBC as a new "bearish" indicator. The "FOOLS" on the Iomega board on America Online's Motley Fool quickly traced the origin of this statement and put out the truth...which apparently has not caught up with fellows at Charter Media. There has been no acknowledgement of a "slowdown" in Iomega's sales by anyone from the company as far as I understand. This was simply a very cautious warning from early S3s that yes, the Zip is a consumer product and sales can be seasonal. I'm paraphrasing some wag on the Motley Fool who suggested that CNBC finally figured out that "Christmas is over, and now we should all get scared."

Anyway, I would suggest you take several more trips to your local Frye's so that you can get a more scientific sampling before making your ultimate decision about Iomega.;) From what I understand, at my local Costco, Zips are selling quite briskly.

Best,
MGSAM
