I suspect companies like POSS that rely on FDA approval for their medical devices are not going to explode overnight....

This is a good point, however there are notable exceptions. For example, some that spring to mind are VVUS (MUSE is actually a drug delivery system) and TGX (Theraseeds are implantable radiation devices).
