Apple is user oriented in the sense that its devices are easier for most people to use than competing devices. And Apple devices also seem to have fewer bugs or are less temperamental than competing devices. Concentrating on making it easier for users would certainly give Apple some competitive lead in facilitating health oriented applications, especially those which depend on real time measurements (e.g., heart rate and other vital signs, but possibly also including blood sugar levels and the ability to compare the results with the user's history as revealed in a health database.

There is some research data that indicates remote monitoring and diagnostic procedures in machine to machine wireless communications could address a market as large as $8 billion in the next four or five years.
