the Schwab I use was called e.schwab when i opened the account a couple of years ago. it connects via my modem independent of my internet server, however, i can also access my account thru their web page via my internet server. the web has a lot more information and features but it is much, much slower than my e.schwab connect. i have never placed a trade thru the web. up until Oct. i was very pleased with the service. i have a friend with an account in the several hundreds of thousands of dollars...he also had Schwab and changed to to e-trade and complains that it is slow compared to his old Schwab but he saves a couple of $$ per trade...geeeezzz....but then he tends to hold much, much longer than i do....he also refuses to sell ANYTHING at a loss......geeeezzzz. he has been fortunate the last two years by going cash (except for those stocks that are down from his entering point) just before corrections (except for Oct.) and buying back on the dip....hope he is as lucky before a BK(whenever that is) or else he will be holding the losers for a long time.
e.schwab comes with its own software to install...the customer service # is
800-362-6789, if your interested.
