He must have been quite a player. My most vivid memory playing baseball as a kid was pitching one over the backstop.

My wife too has accepted my obsession with baseball and, in fact, has become quite a fan. She still doesn't understand the infield fly rule though.

If he doesn't have it already, get him the book Out of Left Field. Loaded with meaningful trivia. Like, do you know what Bobby Thomson, Dave Winfield and Sonny Corleone have in common?
