Spiderdance and Princeton Video Image Kickoff iTV Dream Team
VENICE, Calif. and LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Spiderdance® Inc., the industry leader in interactive TV programming, and Princeton Video Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: PVII - news), the Emmy Award winning leader in virtual advertising and imaging solutions signed an agreement to market new interactive TV entertainment and advertising capabilities. This agreement combines Spiderdance's TruSync(TM), technology with PVI's L-VIS(TM) real-time video insertion system.
Award shows, sports telecasts and special event programming are the immediate benefactors of the combined services, which allow users to interact with their televisions in perfect sync via an Internet-connected PC using Spiderdance TruSync(TM). User feedback, voting and scoring data feeds directly to the PVI L-VIS(TM) real-time video insertion system for use in the broadcast video.
``We designed TruSync with an open door to interoperability in the most progressive TV production environments. The PVI deal reflects this,'' said Steve Hoffman, CEO of Spiderdance. ``Like Spiderdance, PVI brings a proven track record of real-world success to our relationship. We expect the 1-2 punch of our alliance to impress both viewers and the networks.''
PVI's video insertion system, best known for CBS football's ``first down line'' and Early Show enhancements, enables broadcasters to add computer- generated 3-D images and effects which appear as if part of the actual scene being televised. In conjunction with Spiderdance's TruSync technology, the new alliance extends the possibilities of play-along game show & sports iTV programming.
Brown Williams, Chairman of Princeton Video Image stated, ``PVI's virtual in-program insertions are the ideal consumer interface for Interactive TV. Together, PVI and Spiderdance have totally integrated the TV/PC experience.''
Each company brings proven technology to the relationship and the combination can affect both the video and Internet-based enhancements with on- demand accessibility never before available in the iTV space.
