This is old news now, but I'm submitting it because the WSJ carried the story (when it comes to CUBE, it seems like that's not always the case):
C-Cube Microsys Unit's Tech Chosen For Spanish Digital TV
MILPITAS, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Divicom Inc., a unit of C-Cube Microsystems Inc. (CUBE), said its high-performance compression system was selected by Distribuidora de Television Digital for the Spanish digital platform, V!a Digital.
In a press release Tuesday, Divicom said the encoding system uses preprocessing, noise reduction, encoding algorithms, and statistical multiplexing to fit more than 100 channels of digital video, audio, and data onto a single satellite.
Service is expected to begin Sept. 1.
DiviCom provides digital video networking products and systems.
Distribuidora de Television Digital is an organization headed by Telefonica De Espana SA (TEF) with Television Espanola and the Mexican company Televisa. |
