BTW the shah had been in power since the start of WWII, so he didn't need to be installed by the CIA. His father, the previous shah had been been forced to abdicate when the Brits and Russians jointly invaded the country. They, therefore, installed the current shah.

The British and the Iranian military were the prime movers in the overthrow of Mossadegh, although the CIA took part also. Mossadegh misteakenly thought the Americans would support his nationalization of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, but the British had more influence with the US.
