So competition for Amati in the selling of modems (if there is much
profit in competitve selling, which we will presume there will be) will likely come from:

US Robotics
Motorola
Anyone who buys chips from MOT / TI
Anyone buying chips from Analog Devices (ADI)
Paradyne
Anyone buying chips from Lucent

(Did I miss any?)

Looking through previous SI posts, it seems that I did miss a number of known non-Amati competitors:

Ascend/Cascade
Pairgain
Westell
Hayes
Bay
Westell
Orckit
Newbridge Networks
3Com (as part of USRX)

And what of all the other modem manufacturers/distributors? Even if they decide to buck the trend and license Amati DMT, they will still be Amati competitors for *modem* sales.

Just some more food for thought.

Steve
