Yiwu,

"But even if with SARS, one-party system ensures China to act rather quickly once it realized how bad the virus is."

It's startling to me to see some Posters trying to justify one-party systems.

Without a loyal opposition one-party systems are doomed to repeat their mistakes.

Take a good hard look at Kim Jong Il. His people are starving, but he still manages maintains a huge military.

Instead of appreciating the failures of a rigid Stalinist economy and allowing some free market incentives he would rather try to extort aid from the United States and its allies rather than admit to the failure of the system that he alone perpetuates.

He is no longer capable of acting in the best interests of his people. People who hold power are not inclined to admit to mistakes. He will continue to operate in his own interests until the inevitable disaster occurs.
