In Bush speech he cited the British government as the source. I don't see how the date that the CIA got some documents is important given that fact.

The issue of who provided what has been kicked back and forth over the past month. One minute its the CIA; the next its Brit. Intel. No one on either side of the Atlantic is providing a clear picture.

We have the Brits saying one minute their evidence is the same as the CIA's and then the next, turning around and saying, no it isn't; that they had additional info that Saddam bought uranium. When pressed, they said they got this new info from a foreign gov't who doesn't wish them to divulge the info. nor its source. One minute that gov't is France; the next Italy; and then both of them. Now, the Brits are saying its all "rumour and hearsay" and that they and the CIA had the same info. So we are back to the CIA's letters.

In other words, its a political football that keeps getting passed around and around without ever providing clear cut evidence as to who said what when and where. Throughout this past month, varying Bush administration officials have contradicted each other starting with the president and working its way down the list.

Bottomline: Mr. Bush made an important statement in his State of the Union, one of the most important speeches a president can give, and it now appears that that statement was made on the flimsiest of info. What makes this all so significant is that this statement was heard not just in this country but around the world. Furthermore, it was this statement coupled with Powell's presentation to the UN that convinced the Amer. public that we should go to war.

One final note.......they should not let Bush speak on the subject........he just makes things more confused and he acts and sounds very guilty.
