I used to read Cramer in The New York Observer which is where I first discovered him. He wrote a weekly article that was informative, witty and irreverent and I'd never read financial reporting like that before. Chris Byron, an excellent writer, also wrote a column called "Back of the Envelope" where he punctured the balloon of an overyhyped stock each week. He now writes a weekly column for the NY Post on Mondays. They made for a great one two punch.

Anyway, Cramer is an interesting guy and I'll definitely check out his new show. I don't look to make money on individual stocks that he recommends, but rather, I'm interested in his take on trends and the market in general. As a fan of the oil patch, I've noted with interest Cramer's take on the oils eventually taking up 10% of the S&P which they are on the way to doing. He's been right on the money with that call. With all of the restrictions he has to deal with, I don't think his picks are capable of beating the market.
